V.6

Good! more days have past more things done.
During the last days I've been getting ready the table for the set and the room. The table is 130 cm tall, like this is gonna b easier to work with and less paintful for my back. The room is being painted to avoid dust, is extremly important to avoid dust in the set.

Is the first time I've painted with gun and it was well fun! This is HEAVY DUTYYY!!!

I also started working with wings and legs, I visited a taxidermist and it was well helpful, salt is the basic of  many things, its preserves things for a long long time. Bird legs for example, only need to be dried. On the other hand, wings should be "un-boned" Hell knows how... Hopully with more time the taxidermist is gonna be able to teach me some nice trikcs.

I got a couple more of speciments found by my mum and a friend, with people like this I can't complain! I have no idea wich animal this skull is from... It is carnivorous by the shape of its teeth.

Hopully the table and the room are gonna be ready very soon, every step it takes ages... but i think it looks good enough.

See you all till the next post  PEACE OUT AND GIMME DEAD THINGS!

V.5

That was a hell of a job! But well rewarded!  A hunter gave us a female wild boar, we kept the meat to eat and I got almost the full eskeleton of the animal. This is a big piece for bonebuilding!!!

After getting the meat I took all the fat and remains of meat from the skin side with the "sharpest knife ever" and covered it with a thick coat of salt. To get the head skin the proces was similar being extremly careful with eyes and ears. The nose is still with all the cartilage in the top. I kept it in the frezzer without salt as i don't know the proces to work with it yet.

The bones have been boiled, bleached and cleaned with hot water and soap. I don't know if bleach is the best process to get rid of the meat, any sugestions? Sure theres lots of diferent ways.

Birthday Presents

To finish some shots of two awesome birthday presents! My friends gave me a stuffed shark head (Marrajo shark in spanish) (Isurus oxyrinchus) is from the family of the white sharks! (lamnidae) wop wop!!! This sharks can grow quite a bit, till 3,5/4 metters so I asume this was still very young.

The pal with the exoskeleton is an (Limulus polyphemus) here we call it (cangrejo herradura - horseshoe crab) but is not a crab, it seems to be closer to the arachnids family than the crabs. Is a living dinosaur as it almost didn't evolved in 445 milions of years.

Great presents, lets see what to do with them. Thank you very much to my friends, nobody could do it better!

Peace and see you all soon ;)

V.4

Awesome, my friend Adrià found a Tiger Salamander in the forest, surprisingly in quite good shape for being dead! Thank you very much Adrià!

It almost look that is it alive! I managed to put it in a position that it looks pretty realistic. The skin was tearing down very fast, I also put a plastic in its mouth to maintain it open. Alltoghether was covered with plastic film to keep it in a moist enviroment and putted into the freezer (so far).

V.3

Well... a couple of weeks without posting so here we go with a long post!

Ok so first a few shots of the Hybrid before trying the resing cast. I'm very happy abaut this small piece, it came from nowhere to stay strong in my beasts book. I've used parts from a scorpion, spider and a butterfly, scary!

When it was resin time and after a couple of test with a dragonfly and a mouse things were looking pretty good. However i put to much catalyst in the resin and it start to crack and turn a bit yellow, not so bad but not exacly the desired effect.
The resin blocks have to be sanded and polished to make them translucid, it took a lot of time.

Besides this Hybrid adventure i was starting to make the legs of an animation puppets, it turned that the "plastilina" was too soft so I'm doing it now with some kinf of hard foam, anyway a don't even think this will work as this have to be casted to do with silicon.

Time will tell, at least this is helping me to start to think abaut the shape of the legs. Peace!

First try with resin went great!

The resin didn't crack, it dried pretty fast but I'm leaving it 24 hours to completely dry, lets see how the extraaction from the cast goes!

Rely looking foward to cast the spider and the HYBRID!!!
